Located in the Greenbush neighborhood, Longfellow School was designed in three phases by the Madison architecture firm, Law, Law and Potter. The north end of the building was completed in 1918, the central section in 1924 and the south end in 1938. The building is an excellent example of the Tudor Revival style, sometimes called Elizabethan Revival. The building has historical and cultural significance for its association with the ethnically rich Greenbush neighborhood. Longfellow is a Madison Landmark and was nominated by the Madison Trust in 1993. home |
