Photo Gallery: The Trust began making nominations in 1991, and since then, has nominated more than 30 properties for landmark designation. Of these, the following 15 have been designated Madison Landmarks. Landmark nominations play a major role in retaining Madisons unique historic heritage. Nominated properties are those that have historic significance, have maintained the historic integrity of the façade, or have constructed additions that comply with the historic design, detail and character of the original property. Nomination papers must be filed with the City of Madison. Nominated properties are reviewed by the Landmarks Commission and recommendations are sent to the Madison City Council for a final vote.
