The New Orpheum Theatre, designed by the leading theater architects of their day, Rapp and Rapp, opened on March 31, 1927, just ten days before this photo was taken. The only building substantially changed in the block, the Art Mart building (the Goodman Building) was built in 1979, replacing a building destroyed by fire in 1977.
