In December of 1955, as the new City-County Building was being constructed, the City Auditorium Committee paid Angus McVicar to take photo of the Monona Terrace site from out on Lake Monona. McVicar also took a photo at Taliesen of Frank Lloyd Wrights model of his second major design for Monona Terrace. McVicar combined the two photos, and the Committee used the montage to show the public what the finished product would look like. This second design was deemed much larger than the City could afford and that state law would allow, resulting in the scaled-back structure ultimately completed in the summer of 1997. home |
