Photo Gallery: All Around Town
The Gaute Ingebretson Loft House is the only known Norwegian loft house in Wisconsin. This pioneer landmark was built by Gaute Ingebretson in 1844. The house was built of dovetailed, rough-hewn red oak timbers and was in danger of total collapse, but was rescued with the help of the Trust. The house was renovated by disassembling the house, repairing the decayed logs and reassembling the structure 50 feet from its original location. The Ingebretson Loft House is located in the Town of Dunkirk in southeastern Dane County. home |
