2007 Preservation Awards 515 South Few Street
Larry Davidson, owner Built in 1894, the Davidson residence has been called a good example of a workers’ Victorian dwelling. It’s presumed that late nineteenth century immigrant workers helped build the house. Around 2000, several historic Few Street homes were abandoned and replaced by commercial or condominium properties. The exterior restoration of the Davidson residence helps establish the historic fabric of the 150-year-old neighborhood which includes a fair amount of eclectic influence as well as recent development. Larry Davidson’s restoration of the house he purchased in 2003 was called “an inspiration and asset to our neighborhood” by one neighbor. The wood siding was restored to fit in with the historic character and brought back the simple elegance of the house. Larry did most of the work himself with professional assistance from architect Paul Fisher. The restoration work was begun in May 2005 and completed in 2006. home |
