2007 Preservation Awards 422 Castle Place
Angela Vitcenda and Jerry Norenberg, owners The owners of this Claude and Starck home on Castle Place wanted to add a third floor bathroom and laundry facility in the original maid’s quarters. Angela Vitcenda and Jerry Norenberg wanted to be sensitive to the original architectural sensibility of their residence. For starters, that required removal of “junk balconies” that had been added in the 1950s. Steel beams, buried in the wall and running from the basement to the attic, provided structural support. Teamwork with architect Paul Fisher and builder Bill Muir, along with the owners’ patience and vision, created a successful addition without noticeably altering the original architecture. “It was a funky project, but it worked out well,” says Paul Fisher. home |
